A motorist who rescued a lost toy from the side of the road near Lewes has launched a social media campaign to reunite it with its owner.

Clare Macmorland spotted the Jelly Cat bunny under a bridge on the A27 a couple of weeks ago and after driving past it every day for a fortnight, she felt compelled to stop and pick it up.

Writing on Facebook on Monday (September 21), she said: “This is a plea for help to find the owner of this Jelly Cat bunny.

“I have been driving past it for the last two weeks on the A27 near Lewes, just under a bridge, and a couple of days ago I had to stop to rescue it.

“Bunny was in a sad state but I have washed it and I am keeping it safe, so now I need to reunite it with its owner, who I am sure misses it terribly.”

The Facebook post, complete with photographs of all of bunny’s features, has since been shared more than 1,280 times.
