Boy, 12, taken to hospital after ‘falling in front of car’

A 12-year-old boy was rushed to hospital after reportedly falling from his skateboard in front of a car yesterday evening (Monday, June 15).

Emergency services were called to Winterbourne Lane, in Lewes, at around 5.30pm to reports of a young, injured male.

Although the air ambulance attended, the boy, from South Chailey, was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, in Brighton, by road.

A spokesperson from Sussex Police said: “We were called at 5.30pm after a boy on a skateboard was injured in Winterbourne Lane, Lewes.

“The boy is believed to have fallen from his skateboard in front of a Volkswagen Sharan.

“The 12-year-old, from South Chailey, was taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital for treatment for minor injuries.”

The Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance mission report stated the boy had injuries to his abdomen.
