Boy, 14, found not guilty of manslaughter of Connor Saunders

A 14-year-old boy was found not guilty on Thursday November 8 of the manslaughter of Connor Saunders in Rottingdean on April 14, 2012

The boy, who cannot be named due to his age, had been standing trial at Hove Crown Court.

Detective Chief Inspector Nick May of Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team led the enquiry into Connor’s death.

He said following the verdict: “Sussex Police carried out a thorough enquiry into the circumstances surrounding Connor’s death and we respect the decision of the court today.

“Any circumstances in which someone meets an untimely death are difficult and our thoughts remain with Connor’s family and friends as they continue to come to terms with what happened.”
