The remains of a body were recovered from the River Cuckmere yesterday morning (Sunday, November 15).
Walkers found the remains close to the mouth of the river at Exceat shortly after 9am.
Coastguards were immediately called and recovered the body parts at around 10am.
The death is being treated as unexplained at this time and police are considering whether there may be any link to a leg that was found at Birling Gap on November 9. DNA testing is to take place to establish whether that is the case.
The matter has been passed to the coroner’s officer.
