Police are appealing for witnesses after a teenage girl reported being raped in an area of woodland off Comphurst Lane, Windmill Hill, near Herstmonceux.
Officers have been examining the area and making house-to-house enquiries where the 14-year-old girl said she was attacked by a man around 6pm on Sunday (May 17).
Detective Sergeant Suzy Joseph said, “We are still trying to establish the circumstances with the victim and it is unclear at this stage whether she may have known the suspect. She is being looked after by specially trained officers.
“We would like to hear from anyone who may have seen the victim go into the wooded area or the suspect.
“We will be increasing the number of police patrols in the area in the next few days and anyone who is concerned can speak to one of our officers.”
The suspect is described a white, aged 17 or 18, 5’ 9”, of medium build with black hair swept across his forehead, brown eyes and was wearing a white top, black jacket, white shoes and was wearing a black bag across his chest.
He may have been driving a black BMW car.
