A SPECIAL event to help large and small building firms in East Sussex will be held in Uckfield next week.
The Build East Sussex Annual Construction Marketplace will be staged at the East Sussex National Golf Resort and Spa from 3-7pm on Tuesday, February 7.
Organisers say millions of pounds will be spent by public sector bodies on roads, schools and other projects in the coming year and small and medium sized businesses from the construction industry will be at the event to see how they can become part of the supply chain for councils and other public sector partners in the region.
The event marks the second anniversary of the Build East Sussex launch, and provides an opportunity for networking between suppliers and contractors in the construction and related industries. Keynote speaker will be the popular broadcaster Simon Fanshawe, Chair of Council of the University of Sussex and Chair of the Brighton and Hove Economic Partnership.
For the first time the event will be enhanced by a number of firms providing services to the construction sector such as members of the East Sussex Consultants Framework, payroll providers, and construction software suppliers. The event itself is being sponsored by the design software company Autodesk.
Build East Sussex is led by the county council and Brighton and Hove City Council.
Build East Sussex has over 660 firms registered on its website at: www.buildeastsussex.co.uk where more than 550 work opportunities have been advertised leading to major contracts being awarded to local firms.
Firms both already registered and those interested in joining Build East Sussex will be welcome. They will be able to find out about potential projects in the area, meet contractors leading the projects, find out what requirements must be met to increase their chances of landing contracts and meet a range of support organisations that can help them meet those requirements.
