Bus passenger hurt in Hailsham

A woman passenger was injured when a community bus had to make a sudden stop in Hailsham on Friday (October 11), police said.

The cream and green Cuckmere Community Bus had to brake hard to avoid another vehicle on a mini-roundabout at the junction of the High Street and Vicarage Road just after 10am.

As a result of the sudden braking, a 52-year-old woman, from Hailsham, fell from her seat breaking an arm and dislocating her shoulder, police said.

She was taken to Eastbourne District General Hospital for treatment.

PC Christopher Storey from the Sussex Police Road Policing Unit said: “The blue car did not stop and as there was no impact, the driver may not have realised that there was a problem. However, we would like to speak to them or anyone who witnessed the incident. Please call us on 101 quoting serial 353 of 11/10.”
