Businesses and photographers from Hailsham have teamed up to support a 2016 calendar produced in aid of the Hailsham Old Pavilion Society (HOPS) which raises funds to maintain the iconic Pavilion cinema.

Launched at a reception held at The Pavilion on March 23, the calendar shows 12 scenes taken by leading local photographers, most of whom are members of the Hailsham Photographic Society.

Each month has been sponsored by a different business.

The calendar was the brainchild of HOPS chairman, Ray Beckwith, who is also chairman of the Hailsham Photographic Society.

Speaking at the launch reception he thanked the photographers, who included Peter Goldsmith and Marie Stone, for the free donation of their work, and also the sponsors who generosity helped offset the production costs of the calendar so that more of the proceeds can go to HOPS.

Pavilion manager, Paul Nunney, spoke of the vital part played by HOPS in the maintenance of The Pavilion since its renovation and refurbishment in 1993.

Both The Pavilion and HOPS were registered charities, he said, with HOPS being the fund-raising arm that enabled The Pavilion to keep pace with the needs of a modern business.

Sponsors of the calendar are: Kamsons Pharmacy Group, Experience Holidays, Chapter 12, Stone Cross Nurseries, Bluebell Farm Shop, Stevens & Carter, Hooe’s Old Motor Club, HOPS President, June Bourne, Vinehill Studios, SLS Fabrications, Callenders Restaurant and Sussex IFA Ltd.

The photographers who contributed images are: Terry McGhie, Hugh Milsom, Bob Sherrard, Roger Scott, Ray Beckwith, David Mills, Gay Biddlecombe, Marie Stone and Peter Goldsmith.

The calendar will be available from the HOPS stall at the Bluebell Walk at Bates Green Farm, Arlington, from April 9 to May 10, price £6 each or two for £10, or from The Nodding Cobbler The Camera Centre, or The Pavilion.
