Polegate Community Car Park was officially re-opened by MP Norman Baker and Gary Wayne from Creative Parking Solutions on December 13 after it was resurfaced.
Concerns had been raised over the state of repair at the car park which resulted in the site being underused.
Creative Parking has now implemented new operating procedures to ensure the car park offers greater use for the community.
It said there will be longer parking hours for shoppers and commuters, including the option to buy hourly, daily, weekly or monthly parking.
It said the new environmentally friendly completely cashless system is also thought to be a safer way to park, as motorists do not display a ticket indicating the length of time they intend to be away from their vehicle.
Creative Parking also arranged the resurfacing and remarking of the site to offer greater protection to motorists’ vehicles and better safety for pedestrians.
Mr Wayne said: “The changes implemented have been designed to encourage motorists back to this car park, which in the past was regularly half empty putting strain on other local parking facilities.
“Since the changes, use of the car park has substantially increased and we will continue to monitor this to ensure we continue to provide a valuable service.”
MP Norman Baker added: “I am very pleased to see the significant improvements to this important car park in Polegate. What was frankly a badly potholed and rutted car park has been turned into something much tidier and more professional. I was pleased to be able to formally reopen this.”
