An employer in Newhaven landed a big contract to supply leading food retailer Tesco.
Cash Bases secured a multi million pound deal with the supermarket for more than 10,000 tills.
The SMARTtill system will be adopted in Tesco’s Extra and Superstore outlets from August 2013.
The system enables businesses to monitor how much money is going in and out of any till, ensures enough change, alerts management to discrepancies and to when cash levels reach minimum or maximum values.
Cash Bases MD Phil Stonesaid: “Cash is still used in the majority of retail transactions, but managing cash is a growing concern for management in today’s fast-paced retail environment.
“Customers want speed and convenience, something the SMARTtill system is designed to expedite, whilst managing the risk of losses.
“We’re delighted to be working with such a well-respected retail company and are confident we’ll make a tangible, material impact on Tesco and their customers’ experience from day one.”
A Tesco spokesperson said: “Despite the various transaction technologies available today, we find that many of our customers still use cash as their main method of payment. By giving our colleagues more time to help customers at the checkout, SMARTtill will help us to provide the very best possible customer service.”
Cash Bases is in talks with other large UK retailers interested in adopting its tills.
