Chance meeting leads to Polegate donation

A leading employment and training specialist is supporting a Polegate charity with a £500 donation from its staff payroll giving fund.

The Children with Cancer Fund (CWCF) received the funds after Eastbourne business Pertemps People Development Group (PPDG) learned of the help afforded to families of local service users.

Operations manager Terry Horton made the suggestion to support the charity after a chance meeting with its chair Chris Downton during a networking event.

“Chris impressed me so much with his passion and drive, I knew I had to help,” said Terry. “Our business ethos is not only to help local job seekers find work but to support smaller charities and worthy causes wherever we can.

“I nominated CWCF and was delighted when the company agreed to donate £500, enabling Chris and his team to provide additional financial support to local families.”

Staff at Terry’s offices in Eastbourne and Hastings endorsed his nomination citing help with transport costs for families across East Sussex as an idea that might be pursued.

“The level of donation means we can further support those families who travel to the Royal Marsden in Sutton for treatment.” said Chris.

“Taking away some of the parents’ concerns around meeting petrol costs and parking charges will make a significant difference and it’s all thanks to the generosity of the Pertemps staff.”

The company’s payroll giving fund recently surpassed the £200,000 mark, donating to over 600 different causes.
