Charities open books for free and electrical recycling shop in Hailsham

AN EXCITING NEW PROJECT recycling books, electrical items, clothes and toys has been announced by two charities.

Healthy Planet and Age UK East Sussex are opening a ‘Books for Free’ and electrical recycling shop in St Mary’s Walk in Hailsham from this Monday, February 20.

The ‘Books for Free’ initiative helps to reduce the huge number of books going into landfill each year.

Shoppers can can come to the shop and select up to three books free-of-charge each day. There will also be a small charity shop recycling a range of electrical items, clothes and toys.

Most charity shops do not take household electrical items, according to the partnership, so if you have any that are in working order and you would like to recycle them, drop them off at the shop in St Mary’s Walk.

Sue Goodwin, for Age Uk East Sussex, said: “Would you like to help? We are looking for volunteers to join our new team and help with distributing free books, recycling and serving in the shop.

“We can offer you a great team to work with and a lot of fun, plus you’ll be working with us all to help the environment too.”

Volunteers are needed. Tel: 01273 476704.
