A local charity raised over £2,500 at their refreshment stall at Bexhill’s Festival of the Sea last weekend and were thrilled by the result.

St Michael’s Hospice, St Leonards on Sea, received a complimentary pitch at the event - hailed as the biggest festival of sea and angling in the South East. The St Michael’s team sold a range of scrumptious cakes, teas, and coffees which were well received by thousands of visitors at the event.

Sally Beresford, Community Fundraiser at St Michael’s Hospice, said: “The Hospice were delighted to receive a complimentary pitch and were delighted to be part of this amazing event. We are delighted to announce our stall at this year’s Bexhill Festival of the Sea raised over £2,500 for the Hospice!

“Over the weekend over 1,000 cups of tea and coffee were made and more than 500 servings of cakes were sold! There was a fantastic atmosphere and everyone had a great time! The weather was superb, the visitors lovely and our tent volunteers simply brilliant, all in all it really was a great day.”

Sally said over £1,500 was raised in refreshments and Barclays Bank donated a further £1,000 via their “wonderful matched giving fund.”
