A COURSE which enables young people to try watersports at highly subsidised prices will start in Lewes District.
Wave Leisure is running an access to aquatics course from September 4 in Lewes, Newhaven, Ringmer and Seaford.
It will offer water based activities for 14-25 year olds, who have either never participated or are looking to take it up again.
The eight week course, funded through Sportivate, includes an introduction to a number of water based activities such as aqua zumba, aqua aerobics, snorkelling, swimming lessons, fitness training, sub aqua and lifesaving skills.
It costs just £4 for the whole course (just 50p per week), but participants are required to complete the whole programme.
Sportivate is a four year, nationwide campaign that captures the excitement of the London 2012 Games, providing opportunities for teenagers and young adults to receive six to eight weeks of coaching in a sport of their choice and guiding them into regular participation within their community.
Courses will be held at Lewes Leisure Centre, Monday 5pm-6pm, starts September 5; Ringmer Swimming Pool, Wednesday 5pm-6pm, starts September 7; Seahaven Swim and Fitness Centre, Newhaven Sunday 3pm-4pm, starts September 4 and Seaford Head Pool, Monday 5pm-6pm, starts September 5.
