THE UCKFIELD Children’s Fun Triathlon took place last Sunday (August 7) at Uckfield Community Technology College and Uckfield Leisure Centre.
It was the first time the Triathlon had been held after a break of six years.
The aim was to get as many children in the area to go along and have a go at a swim, cycle and run event. Children aged between eight and 14 were invited along and take part in five different classes of race, ranging from Try-a-Tri to Tristars Three, so there was something on offer for everyone.
The Triathlon was run under sanction from Triathlon England and was staged fully in line with race rules and codes of practice. A race referee, first aid and marshall were also on hand to ensure the races ran smoothly. The cycle, run and transition were all held on the college sports field with the swimming event in the Leisure Centre pool. The event raised awareness of the Chldren’s Triathlon Club and was successful in increasing its membership.
Funds were also raised for children’s charity Demelza Hospice Care.
