A Children’s Safety Open Day is being held at Newhaven today (Monday June 24) and Lewes on Wednesday to promote National Children’s Safety week.
Both days run from 12.30pm to 2.30pm and East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service is working closely with Lewes District Children’s Centre and a wide range of partners to promote children’s safety to create a safer community for all.
The events aim to increase awareness of safety issues such as keeping candles, lighters and matches out of children’s reach, setting clear home safety rules for children, information for parents on fitting and maintaining smoke alarms, while promoting healthy eating through samples of fresh fruit, vegetables and juice for the children to enjoy.
