A church was alive with the sound of music when Hailsham and District Twinning Association invited a choir from its twinned town of Gournay en Bray to perform.
Bray Choral Group travelled from France to perform with Crowborough choir Singing for Fun at St Mary’s Church in Hailsham.
Hailsham members played host to 35 French guests, bringing the two choirs together for the event on June 8.
The two choirs were joined by local soloist Rosalind Bell.
It was a first time visit to Hailsham for many members of the Gourney en Bray Choir and they got to take in some of the sights during their stay.
Association secretary Pauline Townsend said: “They enjoyed lunch with their hosts and managed to fit in a whirlwind trip of local scenes, including Beachy Head and East Dean. Hailsham Committee Members then joined them for a wonderful two course meal at the Old Station Restaurant in Polegate.”
Donations received at the event were given to the church.
Plans for next year include a visit from members of the Gournay Twinning Association for various events throughout the year. Hailsham members are also planning to take some young people over to Gournay with members for various sporting activities. Keen cyclists will also be cycling along “Avenue Verte” to Gournay for the St Cair festival in July.
The association is keen to attract new members. For more information call 01323 846539 or email@example.com
