Newhaven Rotary Club held its annual Christmas concert and tea on Saturday December 1 for 100 elderly people who rarely leave their homes.
The drivers of CTLA transport gave their time free of charge to pick up residents from their home and drop them off again.
A concert, tea, carol singing and a raffle were enjoyed by all, while many were already making plans to attend next year.
Rotary club president Kathleen Verrall said: “It was an absolute success.
“The afternoon began with each guest being given a glass of sherry or port on arrival at Telscombe Hall in Tyedean Road, Telscombe Cliffs.
“The concert, presented by Seaford Musical Theatre was superb. The cast were dressed in green and red as pixies and the singing was excellent.
“The star turn had to be the Musical Theatre’s version of The Twelve Days of Christmas which caused much merriment.”
After the first half tea was provided by members of the rotary club.
This was followed by the second half of the concert. The singers then led carols with audience participation.
Donations towards the cost of staging the concert were given by the three town councils in the Rotary Club’s area and the Mayors of Newhaven, Peacehaven and Telscombe and their consorts attended.
The Mayors sold raffle tickets and assisted in distributing the raffle prizes.
The Newhaven branch of Sainsburys gave an extremely generous discount on take-home gifts of wine and Veolia of Newhaven also contributed, enabling boxes of chocolates to be added to the take-home gifts.
