The eagerly-anticipated theme for this year’s Moving On Parade in Lewes has been revealed.
Having gathered suggestions from across the community, it will be ‘Lights, Camera, Action!’
The announcement was made by the outgoing Mayor of Lewes, Cll Ruth O’Keeffe, at the Patina Football Festival, staged at The Dripping Pan.
Local children from Years 5 and 6 battled it out for the trophy, kindly donated by Intersport of Lewes. Ten teams of seven took part, each one with at least two girls, and a great time was had by all.
Priory School and Sussex Downs College sports leaders helped to co-ordinate the competition, and the Priory Samba Band added to the festive atmosphere.
The winning team was ‘Lewes Orange’ team, comprised of Lola Radfern, Maisie Capparucci, Junior Mutalama, Silas Field, Ollie Lumsden, Felix Attfield-Davies and Joe Shersby.
Patina co-ordinator Caroline Croft said: “The response to the festival has been really wonderful. It was great to see so many happy boys and girls joining in and playing football together, delighted at being given the chance to play on the hallowed pitch!
“We raised just under £800 towards the Moving On Parade and can’t thank Lewes FC, Intersport, Ruth O’Keefe and all the helpers and volunteers enough for making it such a success. We love the theme and we’re really looking forward to bringing it all together in the parade through Lewes on July 11.”
