Customers at a popular village shop can now enjoy being served by people they know.
Waldron Stores opened its doors a couple of years ago and is now run by Debbie Lefort, wife of Star landlord Paul.
In order to give popular Debbie a day off villagers have clubbed together to provide relief at the sales desk and coffee shop on Thursdays.
A team of ladies - including representatives from Waldron WI – have learnt the techniques of becoming baristas and can even serve a delicious panini or two.
Debbie said: “This is really a family business. I think shoppers like to pass the time of day with neighbours and familiar faces. It’s lovely for me to be able to take a day off to help Paul or go shopping and I can’t praise this team enough for all the help they give.”
As well as coffees, teas, scones, sandwiches and a full English breakfast the shop also sells necessities such as newspapers, vegetables, local honey from Moat Lane, fresh laid eggs and Sussex cheeses.
It’s becoming a bit of a community hub too with teacher Felicity Poirier presiding over French on Fridays and a thriving book club which meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month. Ring: 01435 812938 to find out more.
