Staff and students at Ringmer Community College are holding a charity football match and silent bid to raise money for CLIC Sargent in memory of a former pupil.

Aidan Stiebhal-Breeds, who passed away on September 29 last year, was a member of the college’s senior student team and was diagnosed with Leukaemia in 2011. CLIC Sargent, a combination of Sargent Cancer Care and CLIC (Cancer and Leukaemia in Childhood) merged in 2005 to support young people by providing emotional, practical and financial support in light of a cancer diagnosis and were able to support Aidan and his family.

After Aidan’s diagnosis, he spent a lot of time raising money for the charity by selling personal calendars in and out of school.

The charity football match of sixth form students verses staff will take place at Ringmer Football Club in Ringmer on Friday, April 22, kick off at 7.30pm. Tickets to the match are £1 for entry, donations will also be welcome on the door. After the match, there will be a raffle and disco, with a separate entry price of £2.

To accompany the match, the college will be holding a silent bid from a list of very generously donated items including a Brighton and Hove Albion signed football shirt (£100) and signed football (£50), Studio 76 hair voucher (£20), five sessions to the Toning Lounge (£20), a family ticket to Blackberry Farm (£20), two-course Sunday lunch at The Green Man for two (£15), two-course meal for two at The Anchor (£10), voucher for The Nail Bar (£10), Domino’s Pizza voucher (£10) and Lew How Butchers voucher (£10).

The prices given are the reserve prices for each item.

To place a bid for any of the items, email bid@ringmeracademy.org with your chosen item(s) and how much you’d like to bid for each. The closing date is Wednesday, April 20.

Mr Robin Lanius, buildings assistant at the college and coordinator of this event, said: “I urge everyone to place a bid on the wonderful donations; we want to raise as much money as possible to support this brilliant charity. Please come and support those playing, we need all the support we can get.”

Ringmer Football Club will also be making a donation on every drink sold at the bar. Call 01273 812220 for details.
