Plans for a new play area in Seaford have taken another step forward.

A consultation, where residents can choose a design for the children’s space at The Salts Recreation Ground on Marine Parade, was launched on April 2 and will run until April 19.

Tender invitations were sent to five play area specialists by the park’s owners, Seaford Town Council, asking them to submit design proposals for a new children’s space at The Salts.

This followed agreement with Lewes District Council to release more than £200,000 from money received for leisure as a result of new housing in the town.

The scheme to rejuvenate the park also includes improved tennis courts and skate park. This consultation is about the play area only. A design brief was produced that took into account the results of the public consultation in the summer of 2013.

A spokesman for the council said: “The designs are in and we now put it to you, the public, to choose your favourite design from the four submissions. We have not ‘weighted’ the scoring but instead will proceed with the majority result from the public selection.”

The designs can be viewed at The Salts Café, Tourist Information Centre, the Downs Leisure Centre and Seaford Library. Or visit Seaford Town Councils website for more information, to view the documents online and to complete the survey at www.seafordtowncouncil.gov.uk.
