Consultation into improvements for pedestrians, cyclists and bus users

A public consultation will be launched in November into improvements for pedestrians, bus users and cyclists in Newhaven and Peacehaven.

Money will come from the Government’s £3.7m Local Sustainable Transport Fund.

East Sussex County Council’s infrastructure design and delivery manager Mark Vallelley, said: “We are proposing a range of measures aimed at improving conditions for cyclists, bus users and pedestrians in Newhaven and Peacehaven, which will be funded from the Local Sustainable Transport Fund.

“These proposed measures include a new shared pedestrian and cycle track on the existing footway on the northern side of the A259 between Peacehaven and Newhaven and improved pedestrian crossing facilities and upgrades to bus stops in Newhaven and Peacehaven.

“These proposals will be subject to a full public consultation, including exhibitions at which people can view details of the planned schemes, which will be held in November.”
