The father of three children injured in a collision in Sussex on Sunday (March 19), in which the youngsters’ mother died, has been discharged from hospital.

A police investigation was launched following the tragedy, which happened at around 1.55pm in Upper Lake, Battle.

Emergency services were called to the scene where a black Volkswagen Beetle travelling west had collided with 37-year-old mother and her family.

The 37-year-old mother sadly died in hospital.

Sergeant Peter Verney, of the Sussex Police roads policing unit, said: “Our thoughts are very much with the family at what is a very difficult time, and we would ask people to respect their privacy while they try to come to terms with what has happened.”

Police are continuing to investigate the incident and have repeated an appeal for any witnesses to contact them.

They can do so by emailing collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk, reporting details online at sussex.police.uk/contact-us/response-to-appeal, or phoning 101, quoting Operation Willington.
