A book which reveals the hidden history of several war memorials in the Hellingly and Upper Dicker area was launched at a Hailsham store on Saturday (February 1).
Heroes of Hellingly by Hailsham historian David Dyer was launched at WH Smith in the town centre.
David has painstakingly researched the Hellingly and Upper Dicker War Memorials.
David said: “This latest publication, which is fully illustrated, reveals the hidden history of the several War Memorials in the Hellingly and Upper Dicker area.
“It also details the lives of the many brave men and the one woman who died in both WW1 and WW2.
“It includes much unpublished local history and uncovers some fascinating facts.
“Not only about the local area but also about those brave souls who gave their lives for their country.”
David said £1 from each book sold will be donated to the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.
David’s previous book, The Heroes of Hailsham, received much acclaim and copies are still available.
Both books can be obtained either direct from David on 01323 845107 or through any of several locally publicised outlets.
Heroes of Hellingly is priced at £8 and Heroes of Hailsham is priced at £9.
