Awards evening to recognise talent of young people in sport in Seaford and Alfriston

A competition to celebrate the talent of young people in sport is being staged by The Martello Rotary Club of Seaford.

It is now open for nominations for young people living, attending school or representing a sports team in Seaford or Alfriston.

An awards evening will be held on Saturday November 22 at Seaford Head Upper School where the winners will be announced.

There are five categories: Young sports volunteer of the year, young sports person showing excellent commitment to their sport, most improved sports person of the year, team of the year and young sports person of the year,

Clive Rimell from the rotary club said: “At this time it may be good to reflect on the sporting successes for this year going back to September 2013.

“This could include individuals or teams who have achieved great things, both in school or above and beyond at club, county or national level.

“We would love to know who these young athletes are.

“There is a prize of £200 for the winning school or club and trophies and prizes for the winning teams or individuals.

“We hope to make it a glittering affair with many local VIPs and sporting personalities, so please nominate now.”

You can go to the website and nominate online www.sportsaward.martellorotary.org.uk or email sportsaward@martellorotary.org.uk for further information.

There are also still opportunities to sponsor this new event.

Nominations must be received by 12 midnight on September 30, 2014.
