Lewes Children’s Book Group is holding a day of celebrations to mark its 40th birthday on June 14 in the Corn Exchange at Lewes Town Hall.

Popular children’s authors and illustrators, Emily Gravett, Christopher Lloyd, Ali Sparkes and Steve Cole will talk about their work, and there will be craft activities, book-signings, a book stall (provided by Bags of Books, the Lewes retailer), and refreshments.

The day will be opened by Gillian Cross, a founder member of the group, and author of many books including The Demon Headmaster. The celebrations run from 11am until 4pm. Tickets for each of the talks are available from Lewes Tourist Information Centre, and cost £3 for children, with accompanying adults free of charge.

The rest of the event is free, and all are welcome to drop in throughout the day.
