A mother has raised more than £1,700 for two cancer charities by having all of her hair shaved off.

Blue Poulter, 26, of Malvern Way, went under the razor in memory of her gran and best friend’s mother, who she called her second mum. Both died of cancer.

Her aunt was diagnosed with breast cancer and secondary bone cancer in April and has undergone chemotherapy. Another one of Blue’s friends also is suffering from the disease.

Blue said: “In life they say you should pick your battles but my aunt didn’t get to pick her battle. She has been dealt a hand and now has to play out the game with our love and support.

“She was diagnosed with cancer of the breast and bone in April. They can treat but not cure her. To show my support for her and my friend who is also going through this at the moment I decided to have my head shaved to raise money for Cancer Research and Macmillan.

“I was so close to my best friend’s mum, who died last October, and saw her as my second mother.

“I didn’t think I’d raise this much money and would like to to thank Red Hair for everything they have done.”
