Asda has pulled out of the Newhaven Eastside scheme, the developer behind the proposal confirmed today (Thursday July 24.)

Newhaven Developments LLP (formerly Avalon) announced that the supermarket had withdrawn from the scheme, which included building an Asda supermarket on the Eastside.

The developer confirmed it had instructed its solicitors to issue proceedings in the High Court to enforce the commitment Asda made.

The development involved a petrol station, 190 homes to be built by Barratt Homes, office or light industrial space and the first phase of the port access road.
