The 26th annual Sussex Business Awards was launched at the East Sussex National Hotel on Tuesday.
Three new sponsors and a new chair of the judges were announced. One of the new sponsors, Wealden District Council, introduced its own new award for the most sustainable business in the Wealden district.
Attendees at the event heard from previous Sussex Business Awards winners in a short question and answer session describing what winning the award meant for them. Judges too spoke and told the audience what they look for in entries.
The new judges’ chair is Mike Herd, executive director of the Sussex Innovation Centre and also the Sussex Businessperson of the Year 2000. Mike won the Queen’s Award for Enterprise Promotion last year.
New sponsors are Mayor Wynne Baxter (Most Promising New Business;) South Downs College (new award for the Young Sussex Businessperson of the Year) and Wealden District Council..
The panel includes Adrian Corbin, Scientifica Ltd, winner of the International Business of the Year 2013. Celebrating business excellence across Sussex, the Awards are the longest established scheme of their kind in the county and known as one that everyone wants to win.
