Volunteers are needed to help run the Hailsham branch of Parkinson’s UK, offering information, activities, friendship and support to people with the disease, their families and carers.
Volunteering is not all about committee work but can be helping out at one or two meetings a year, setting up the venue or meeting and greeting the members.
However, to keep the group running, funds are needed so the group is looking for fundraiser volunteers.
You may want to take part in a one off event to raise money such as organise a coffee morning or a sponsored walk or regular events for the group, or you may want to help with the many collections the group organise each year at supermarkets and shopping centers.
The group also needs a secretary to assist the committee at their meetings by taking minutes and distributing information, to act as local contact for all enquiries and correspondence plus other general administrative duties.
A chairperson is required to initially assist the outgoing chairperson who is due to leave their post at the end of this year.
The role would then include leading and guiding the branch and ensure its work is carried out sensitively and effectively, to maintain good communications between the committee, branch members and the UK Office
