New kitchen opens at Trinity Church in Willingdon

Two and a half years of planning and fundraising came to a successful conclusion last week when a new kitchen was officially opened at Trinity Church in Willingdon.

A special lunch took place to mark the occasion.

Representatives from the community, who had helped with the project, including Willingdon and Jevington Parish Council, Waitrose (Eastbourne), 3VA, Sussex Police and Hawk Builders, joined with church members to celebrate the occasion.

Having been welcomed by the minister Rev David Yule, Cllr John Pritchett (Chairman of the Parish Council) carried out the opening ceremony.

Guests then had a three course meal, which was prepared in the new modern catering kitchen by the Trinity Diners team of volunteers.

After the lunch guests were invited to view the new state of the art facilities.

Back in February the Express reported how the church received a £30,000 funding boost from SITA Trust for the project.

The kitchen will help the church with its extended outreach programmes, including Trinity Diners.
