The Lewes Support Group, which offers a life-line to parents and carers of children and young people with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), was started by a parent and later became part of a larger charity.

However, the group has recently received devastating news that the charity it is currently a part of would be withdrawing its support.

Following the news, Families for Autism reached out and offered to help the Lewes Support Group. Families for Autism trustee and chief executive officer, Mark Jones, said: “We know the immense value that parent and carer groups can offer to families living with ASD. An invaluable support group in this community had been established, and we were delighted that we could intervene to prevent the closure of this vital service.”

Families for Autism runs support groups in Eastbourne, Newhaven and Heathfield and has now welcomed Lewes into its structure. For more information about these groups or any other services offered by the charity, contact Mark Jones on 07415 137887, or visit the website at www.familiesforautism.com.
