When James Batten was selected to be Team GB’s only in house videographer at the London 2012 Olympic Games he thought he had reached the pinnacle of his career.
But now James, who lives in Chiddingly, has set his sights on a brand new challenge and has started his own business, Gun Road Productions, based in Blackboys, near Uckfield.
James said it was an honour to be part of the Team GB crew working with the athletes, members of the royal family and film and tv stars.
He said: “I’ve generally always worked for a company and after my contract at the Olympics finished I decided that I wouldn’t get a better job than that so decided to try and start up by myself. Being Team GB’s in house videographer was quite an amazing experience, it’s really hard explaining the position I was in to people that weren’t there - I got to see and do things that a lot of people would have given their left arm for. I was in such a lucky position to be involved at the heart of the team and it’s really hard to pin point a particular moment from the games because there were so many. Being in Team GB house in Stratford was great because athletes, tv and film stars and the odd member of the royal family popped in because it was such a big event. “Being able to interview and film these people was a real privilege. I was also fortunate enough to be on a float when the parade through London happened in the September after the games, to see the public that had supported the athletes show their appreciation was something else, the emotion of it was overwhelming and it wasn’t even for me.”
James has also worked on popular BBC One show Strictly Come Dancing. James decided to set up his own business because it had always been his dream to be his own boss. The core of James’ business is video production for clients, delivering bespoke films to enhance their business. He said: “The business is still in the early stages, so we are looking to build our client base down here. As we are a small business with little overheads we can offer top quality videos and photography at really good prices. We want to learn and grow with other local business and hope to carve out a niche here around the Lewes area.” Visit: http://www.gunroadproductions.co.uk/
