A new children’s story book is set to go on sale in aid of local children’s hospice Chestnut Tree House.

‘The Seaside Adventure’ was written by 73-year-old Terry Gould, who is a long standing supporter of Chestnut Tree House, and is the first of a four-part series of short stories for children that are now on sale in charity shops across Eastbourne, Seaford and Uckfield. The series tells the tales of two children, Peter and Poppy.

Terry wrote the stories for his two grandchildren some years ago when his daughter and her family lived in Hong Kong. He would send the stories in instalments, and his daughter would read the stories to the children at bedtime. They were always eager to see how the stories would unfold.

After his wife suggested the idea, he recently put some of the stories together in a book and gave it to his grandson for his 18th birthday.

Sadly, Terry’s wife died about three years ago at Chestnut Tree House’s sister hospice, St Barnabas House, so unfortunately she was unable to share the occasion.

Keen to raise additional funds for both hospices, Terry is funding all the publishing and promotional costs himself, enabling all the sales revenue to benefit Chestnut Tree House and St Barnabas House directly.

Terry says they are simple, gentle and exciting stories for children aged from three to seven years old and are ideal to be read to them, as well as being an early reader book.

The books are now available from Chestnut Tree House shops in Eastbourne, Uckfield and Seaford and cost £4.50. Alternatively, you can order your copy directly from Terry (postage costs will apply) who has offered to sign copies for anybody who would like him to. It is also possible to pre-order copies of the remaining three books in the series.

For further information about ordering your copy of the book please contact Terry directly at terry.gould1@btopen world.com or call 01903 879185.
