A talented dancer is appealing for donations to help raise the tuition fees she needs to go to her dream performing arts college.

Hannah Martin, 19, from Crowborough, was offered a place at Doreen Bird College in Sidcup on the pre professional course last year, but had to withdraw her place because she could not raise the tuition fees.

She stayed on at sixth form college for a third year taking BTEC Level 3 in Performing Arts as well as AS Media. She gained an A in A level Dance, Distinction in BTEC Sup Diploma Dance and B in Photography as well as passing her Higher Sports Leadership Award.

She has now been offered a place at Bird College and is appealing for donations.

Mum Tracy said: “She was also offered a place at Urdang Academy in London, and a recall for London Studio Centre all for the same course though. “These courses are not funded. She was offered a place at all of the ones she auditioned for. The fees for Bird are £7,500 and then there are associated costs. She has chosen Bird because overall it works out the best and this is where she would love to go.”

To raise the fees needed, Hannah has turned to a Crowd Funding website Talentbacker. She only has one week left to raise the fees on the site.

Tracy continued: “If the target money is not reached then she does not get any.

“As long as the target is reached she will receive the money even if it exceeds the target. No money is taken from anyone until this point according to their site. It is basically a pledge at present.

“I wrote to charities but no one was able to help. This really is her last chance to do something she is good at and wants to pursue. Hopefully if she is able to go then she will obtain a place later on the degree course which is funded. This course is not and they seem to want you to do it. I have written to around about 15-20 local companies but no joy.

“Also I have posted leaflets in shops and businesses, again no joy. It is frustrating that we have to do this in order for her to go somewhere where she just wants to nurture her talent.”
