Volunteers from Community Transport for the Lewes Area have been shortlisted for the Newhaven Community Awards.
Bob Evans works and volunteers for the group which is a registered charity based in Newhaven.
He is described by his colleagues and service users as “always giving 100 percent”.
As an honorary Rotarian for Newhaven, Peacehaven and Telscombe, he has helped at dozens of events for charity over the last two decades.
Bob is also a group Scout leader for the 3rd Newhaven troop, and has been a dedicated officer for the last 15 years, recently receiving his ‘Wood Badge’.
Iris Donaldson has lived in Denton and Newhaven since 1963 and volunteers at least one day a week in administration for CTLA.
She is always first to volunteer to help at fundraising events such as CTLA’s recent 1940s themed show which raised more than £2,000 in aid of the accessible community transportation service.
A past President of Newhaven, Peacehaven and Telscombe Rotary Club and a Paul Harris Fellow, Iris has been volunteering for more than 19 years whilst raising her family.
Until recently she also ran the popular local pet store in Newhaven town centre.
Paula Woolven, from CTLA, said: “CTLA would like to wish their ‘Charity Champions’ the best of luck for the awards. CTLA are delighted that two of their volunteers have been shortlisted for the Newhaven Community Awards.”
The Newhaven Community Awards, organised by Newhaven Town Council, have three categories where people could nominate: volunteer, achiever and unsung hero.
