Travel Log Lewes is organising a bike ride with a difference tomorrow (Saturday).
Participants will be wearing old-fashioned clothes and riding old-fashioned machines on a leisurely 15-mile journey which includes a visit to an old-fashioned tea room.
‘Travelman’ asked: “Bored of Lycra? Don’t want mud stripes up your bottom?”
Then meet at the front of Lewes Railway Station at 2pm.
“The style is tweed or retro,” continued Travelman, “so bring your retro racer, your upright shopping bike with basket and flowers, your best outdoor hearty tweeds or your cycling to church outfit – or anything else that would fit the bill.
“You won’t get barred if you can’t manage these (unless you turn up in Lycra) but you will receive acclamation for stylish bikes or dress.
“We will be seen off by an appropriately-dressed Deputy Chair of Lewes District Council, Cllr Ruth O’Keeffe.”
Riders will pass through the cycle fair in the Cliffe Precinct, exit Lewes via the cycleway to Firle and later enjoy tea at Glynde.
