Former Chiddingly resident and actor Bob Hoskins has died aged 71.
The actor famous for his roles in Mona Lisa, which he was Oscar nominated for and won a Bafta for, and other films Mermaids, Hook, Mrs Henderson Presents and Made in Dagenham, died on Tuesday (April 29).
His agent said he had been admitted to hospital with pneumonia and sadly died there surrounded by his family.
Mr Hoskins had lived in a property in Chiddingly but sold the house in 2012.
He retired from acting after he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.
Mr Hoskins also appeared on the small screen. He appeared in Play for Today, On the Move, Van der Valk and BBC drama The Street.
The actor’s last film role was in Snow White and the Huntsman.
