Eight Wealden village halls given grants

Eight village halls in Wealden are in line for £36,000 of capital grants to help with improvements thanks to the latest round of the district council’s Community Grants scheme.

The largest capital grant of £10,000 goes to Five Ashes Village Hall to complement a major National Lottery Project award and is an example of a more energy efficient and environmentally sustainable approach to the future use of the hall.

The Village Hall for Wilmington, Milton Street and Folkington was awarded £6,000 to pay for a new floor and damp proofing, Cross in Hand Village Hall will receive £5,000 to cover the cost of re-wiring and replacement heating.

In Stone Cross, St Luke’s Parish Centre will receive £4,000 to help with the cost of a new kitchen. East Hoathly Village Hall, Hadlow Down Village Hall and Maresfield Village Hall will each receive a capital grant of £3,000.

Pevensey Memorial Hall will receive £2,000 to help towards a replacement roof and windows.
