Oh no, it’s the Gruffalo! Pre-schoolers and other children will be taking part in a sponsored walk around Blackboys tomorrow (Saturday May 11) afternoon to kick start an afternoon of family fun at the village hall.
Starting at 2pm, the annual sponsored walk around Blackboys will this year feature characters from the amazing Julia Donaldson book Gruffalo.
Thanks to the generosity of the Blackboys Inn Pub, walkers will stop off for squash at the halfway point before heading back to the Village Hall for a family fun day and lots of entertainment for children.
Activities include a bouncy castle, facepainting, barbeque, cake stall and arts and crafts for little ones plus a story corner and an opportunity to meet the Gruffalo or sit on the Blackboys Pre-School Little Red Tractor (a vintage Massey Ferguson 135) – the day promises to be a huge amount of fun for all the family.
Proceeds will go towards further enhancing the Pre-School’s Forest School activities and paying towards running the Pre-School allotment where the children grow fruit and vegetables and look after their three chickens.
They are also raising money for the Chestnut Tree House Hospice near Arundul, the only children’s hospice in Sussex which provides specialist palliative care to children and young adults.
Jenny Novkovic, Blackboys Pre-School manager, said: “We are delighted to be supporting Chestnut Tree House, such an amazing charity.
“And the money we raise for Blackboys Pre-School will make a huge difference to us at a time when Government funding for Pre-Schools makes it so difficult for those in small, rural environments to survive. Bring the family and join us for a really fun afternoon.”
