Fire crews were called to a house fire in Hailsham last night (Thursday January 16).
Crews from Eastbourne and Hailsham were called to a property in Stanier Street after reports of a cooker fire.
Neighbours dialled 999 at 6.57pm when they heard an alarm sounding and smelt burning.
A spokesman for East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said: “On arrival, firefighters used breathing apparatus and one hose reel to tackle a small fire.
“There are no reports of injuries.
“East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service is reminding people of the importance of having a working smoke alarm in their properties.”
