The house struck by lightning in Uckfield

A teenage boy suffered an electric shock when a house was struck by lightning in Uckfield on Friday July 18.

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service was called to the home in West View at 9.49pm where a fire broke out as a result.

A blaze was tearing through the first floor and the roof space of the two storey home.

Three fire engines were sent to the house from Uckfield and Crowborough.

An ambulance was requested for the boy who was suffering from an electric shock.

Crews removed roof tiles and sheeted up the roof as well as undertaking salvage work and making the building secure.

The incident was closed at 11.52pm.
