It was hard to imagine that the fun could continue in Uckfield throughout a whole week with no loss of enthusiasm.
But excitement seemed to build - from the Uckfield Festival Big Day two weeks ago to the Churches Together event on Luxford Field...almost the penultimate event of the Festival itself.
On Sunday, July 20 hundreds of people flocked to Luxford Field for the annual event which comes together thanks to the co-operation between the town’s churches.
Music was by ‘Reflections’ and there was amazement at the antics of Jimmy the Juggling Jester. Children enjoyed hectic games, plenty of free food and as much ice cream as they could manage - essential as the temperature rose.
There were giant bubbles, diabolos, a ‘bath’ of baubles (much enjoyed by the vicar,) helium balloons and the biggest hot dogs anyone could manage at one sitting.
Songs of Praise was led by Kings Church.
On the same day the Newtown Action Group held an open garden at Selby Meadows and there was a walk starting from Bridge Cottage showing how nature has reclaimed the derelict railway.
The evening saw a concert at the Civic Centre from 7.30pm called In the Mood with Glenn Miller and Friends performed by Uckfield Concert Brass directed by Nick Morris. A fitting finale to a spectacular Festival.
