Follow in the footsteps of William the Conqueror for a unique historical charity walk next month.
The 1066 Walk event has been organised by St Michael’s Hospice and the Rotary Club of Battle for Sunday, September 28.
There are three options for the walks, Option 1: Leaving Pevensey between 8.30am and 9.30am (16 miles), Option 2: Boreham Street leaving between 10am and noon (nine miles) and Option 3: Stephen’s Crouch leaving between noon and 2.30pm (four miles).
The walks will take in Ashburnham Forge and Herstmonceux Castle and will end in Battle, the scene of King Harold’s defeat.
Marcia Dart, hospice fundraising team leader, said: “As this is a sponsored event to raise money for St Michael’s Hospice and charities supported by the Rotary Club of Battle, we are urging people throughout Hastings and Rother to participate in this beautiful walk.” The £5 registration fee and the sponsorship will be split 50/50 with the Rotary Club of Battle and St Michael’s Hospice. Would-be walkers should contact Marcia Dart at the hospice to book on 01424 456381 or email email@example.com.
