The annual summer play day organised by Wealden District Council at West Park, Uckfield, from 10am-2pm was enjoyed by hundreds of youngsters on Wednesday in brilliant summer sunshine.

Activities included healthy cooking, arts and crafts, sports including table tennis, group games and dancing. Mums and dads were delighted as their children had a wonderful day - and it did not cost them a penny!

Taking part, providing gentle instruction where needed and generally helping out, were members of local sports clubs, leisure and children’s centres who were also on hand to highlight their activities and encourage everyone to keep active over the summer and beyond.

Wealden’s Play Days are part of a range of local events organised throughout the UK involving thousands of children, families and communities to highlight the importance of play in children’s lives.

These incredibly popular days out attracted nearly 1,300 attendees last year and are totally inclusive with a broad range of activities available.
