Displays of locally caught fish and fish cookery demonstrations will be among the highlights of Newhaven’s annual Fish Festival.
It will take place on Saturday, June 14, at West Quay, Newhaven, from 9am to 3pm.
The Dieppe market will set up in the town and there will also be a children’s parade.
Event organiser Sally Foote from Sussex Community Development Association said: “This year we are introducing some new workshops focusing on ways of using recyclable materials and addressing food waste. We hope the community will enjoy taking part and benefit from them. The event is free and always very well attended.
“For those who haven’t come along before we hope you will join us on the day in celebrating Newhaven’s fishing industry.”
Other attractions include community group stalls, live music, dancing and children’s rides and activities.
In addition this year there will be an art workshop with a nautical theme using recyclable materials and a ‘waste not want less’ workshop aimed at reducing food waste.
There will also be a flash mob led by local young people.
Children can look forward to Brillo the Clown and Punch and Judy, Lewes Glynde and Beddingham Brass Band, a jazz band and Up the Tempo Dance troupe will perform.
Last year thousands of people attended the Fish Festival, with visitors from across East Sussex and beyond flocking to the town.
