Organisers are promising a ‘great family event’ at Hailsham Town Fete this year as final preparations get under way.
The town fete will take place on July 12 at Hailsham Community College Sports Field from 11am to 3pm.
Organisers Hailsham Town Council’s Festivities and Events Committee, in partnership with Hailsham Community College Academy Trust, say they are confident the fete will be a great family event and bigger and better than ever.
Hailsham College Sports Ground will be home to a wide range of charity stalls on the day and there will be activities including a bouncy castle, climbing wall, face painting, archery, Punch ’n’ Judy and inflatable assault course.
There will also be stoolball, cricket, trampoline and street dance taster sessions.
A vintage car display will also be on show as well as live music from Eastbourne Pipe Band, tombolas and an inter-primary school five-aside World Cup football competition for those who wish to take part.
Food on offer will include a mouth-watering barbecue and there’s a large picnic area if you want to bring your own.
Cllr Chriss Triandafyllou, chairman of the Town Council’s Festivities and Events Committee, said the fete and the Charter Market, which will also be taking place in August, will help attract more people into the town.
He said: “July will be an exciting time for Hailsham.
“I am delighted to be part of organising this year’s summer events including the town fete in July and Charter Market in August.
“Both of which I’m confident will attract lots of people and support our community in all the wonderful things being done locally.
“It takes time and effort to ensure that everything goes smoothly on the day.
“The town council and Hailsham Community College have worked hard in recent months to make the necessary preparations for the town fete and is grateful to local community groups and voluntary organisations for supporting us by taking part in the event.”
Hailsham Town Council is currently organising its next Charter Market which will take place in the town centre on August 9 from 10am to 3pm.
It will continue into the evening with a wide range of food stalls, live music and entertainment.
