A Lewes-based charity is urging the public to give more to its annual winter appeal to help people struggling to keep warm this winter.
“As temperatures drop, fuel bills soar and many more people have to make the awful choice whether to heat their homes or put food on the table,” said Kevin Richmond, Chief Executive of Sussex Community Foundation, the charity behind the annual Surviving Winter appeal.
“We’ve raised £16,000 from a generous public already in the last 12 weeks since this year’s campaign began and that money has started going out to people who need it via local Citizens Advice Bureaux and Age UK across Sussex. But the winter is far from over and we’d like to give out much more to support the elderly and vulnerable through the cold days and nights ahead.”
