This ball of lightning splitting open the night sky on Friday was caught on camera as it passed over Hastings.
Yvette Cook of Park Drive caught the image around 8.30pm as the storm raced in off the sea.
The sky was suddenly turned to darkness and wind and rain raced across the town triggering multiple lightning strikes in the region.
The inclement weather descended on the town in what seemed like a matter of minutes quickly turning the daylight into darkness.
There were reports of broadband signals being lost in the West Hill area.
Several buildings in the area were affected by flash flooding.
Storms and thunder re-occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning but there were no reports of any serious damage.
